Study of Prevalence of Virulence Factors in Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from a tertiary care hospital

چکیده
Extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) strains are E.coli strains with enhanced ability to cause infection outside the intestinal tract such as in the blood stream, cerebrospinal fluid, or urinary tract of mammalian and human hosts (Johnson and Russo., 2002). The barrier between commensalism and virulence results from a complex balance involving host condition, presence and expression of virulence factors. In general, pathogenecity has been correlated with the presence of genes encoding virulence factors (VFs) organized in large blocks called pathogenecity islands. Phylogenetic typing and molecular detection of virulence factors of avian pathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from colibacillosis cases in Japanese quail
Colibacillosis caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC) is an economic threat to the poultry industry throughout the world. Some of the virulence genes may enhance the ability of E. coli isolates to grow in the tissues of broilers. The APEC strains are assigned to a few distinct phylogenetic groups. The purpose of the present study was to detect the virulence genes a...
متن کاملDetection of eaeA, hlyA, stx1 and stx2 genes in pathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from broilers affected with colibacillosis
Background: Foodborne outbreaks associated with shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) have been well documented worldwide. STECs are major causative agents of gastroenteritis in humans that may be complicated by hemorrhagic colitis (HC), hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), and thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura (TTP). OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of vi...

background: Infections due to Extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) represent a major but little-appreciated health threat. Proper antibiotic sensitivity testing and judicious use of antibiotics are crucial in treatment of such infections. Aims: This study was done to determine the spectrum of infections caused by ExPEC and their antimicrobial susceptibility pattern. settings and ...
متن کاملPrevalence of Virulence Genes of Escherichia Coli O157:H7 Isolated from Patients with Urinary Tract Infections in Shiraz, Iran
Abstract Background and Objective: Escherichia coli O157:H7 is one of the most well-known pathogenic bacteria worldwide that can develop severe diseases such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). This study aimed to assess the prevalence of virulence genes of E. coli O157:H7 in patients with suspected urinary tract infections (UTIs). Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was co...

In this study, to know about the phylogeny of Escherichia coli isolated from broilers with collibacillosis in Tabriz, 70 E. coli isolates recovered from broilers with collibacillosis were characterized for phylogenetic group (A, B1, B2, D) by multiplex PCR. Of the all 70 samples, 35 (50%) isolates were classified as type A, 32 (45%) as type D, 2 (2.8%) as type B1 and 1 (2.8%) as type B2. This s...
